Donna had a busy weekend with 9 runners, 2 winners and 1 placing.
Improper started favourite and won very convincingly. A lightly raced 5yo mare with only the 4 starts under her belt put the writing on the wall first up at Wagga when running 3rd beating 2L. “She was always going to be vunerable late, being first up” Scott said.
Donna’s apprentice Coriah Keating’s maintained the ride on Improper and produced a beautiful front running ride, winning by 2.8L. Donna still believes there will be improvement to come from this mare, and has always had quite the opinion of her.
The team then headed up the highway to Goulburn, where another promising sprinter of Donna’s Incentive also started favourite. Incentive made winning look easy, as his price suggested. “Ideally I would have preferred to run in the BM58 900m at Albury, but with only 3 horses accepting the race was scraped. Goulburn was the only other option, disappointing it was only a half tab but I will take the win and look for better races moving forward” Scott said.
All in all a successful weekend for Hazel Park Racing. With a few of her promising gallopers trialing at Albury it looks like Donna Scott will be in for an exciting summer.
