Trainer Donna Scott, is no stranger to being patient with her horses and allowing them the time they need.
It’s such an important attribute to her success in training and more often then not you see her reap the rewards.
Snap Book is no different. A 4yo gelding by Fighting Sun was offered to her on a lease by breeder Phillip Tobin. Donna agreed upon a deal and they went 50/50.
Donna Scott sent two horses to Canberra on Sunday to compete in the 1400m Country Maiden. With stablemate Lensman starting a short priced favourite and Snap Book jumping at the juicy odds of $80 to 1. It’s a story as old as time. Lensman was luckless in the last 600m and Snap Book three wide no cover, travelled strongly throughout and still let down with an impressive turn of foot to beat them all.
“Carrying a horse from a 2yo and taking your time with them is always a financial risk. I have always had time for this horse. Occasionally he left me wondering if I had made the right choice, as I had concerns he wouldn’t settle mentally.
It’s nice when you get it right and they reward you with a win like that at their second career start.” – Scott said.
Snap Book looks a very progressive type.
