Our Last Cash’s story has been no secret. An orphan foal raised by owners Rhys Holleran and Leanne Hulm. The success story of this horse has been well documented by Donna Scott and her team. As he notched up his fifth win on Saturday in a BM70 over 1200m at Flemington. I have no doubt all involved at HPR are still pinching themselves this morning.

Half brother to Lord Von Costa, who won the Creswick as a 3yo with jockey Craig Williams on board. It seems only fitting, that Craig Williams was the jockey to steer Our Last Cash to his first victory down the straight.

Lord Von Costa loved the straight at Flemington and Our Last Cash made it very clear that he is as equally competitive at headquarters. The lightly raced 6yo gelding by Magnus beat his rivals by 2.75L including hot priced favourite River Noire trained by Peter Moody & Katherine Coleman.

‘I was thrilled with the win but by no means did it come as a shock. Lord Von Costa was good, but I have no doubt in my mind that Our Last Cash has far more natural ability.’  Scott said.

With the worlds richest race for country-trained horses, carrying $2 million dollars in prize money fast approaching, it comes as no surprise that Donna and her team have been advocating to secure their sprinter a spot in The Kosciuszko.

Tickets are currently on sale for $5, 14 winning tickets will be drawn on the 8 September with the race being held at Randwick on Saturday 14 October 2023.
